Langoustines in sardine country

Douarnenez, Finistère

Picture 1 Le Keriolet

Le Keriolet
29 rue Croas Talud
29100 Douarnenez

With a view over the port of Douarnenez down below, the Keriolet really goes to town when it comes to lobster, and other delights!
Just below the restaurant lies the ‘Sentier des douaniers’ coastal footpath, with the picturesque Plomarchs de Douarnenez beneath. There’s also a small garden. Altogether the perfect place for lunch or dinner. Once you’re inside Jean-Charles Arhuro’s restaurant, the Kériolet, you’ll discover unfailing kindness, an obviously ‘sea-inspired’ atmosphere and cuisine to go with it. With Douarnenez’s history of sardines, you’d expect the menu to be dominated by them, but it’s not the case. Here it’s the lobster dishes - from Guilvinec or Loctudy - that steal the show. Choose from grilled in sea-salt and seaweed, flambéed in pastis for an aniseed flavour or even served with veal sweetbreads. The menu is full of the flavours of the sea with lots of varieties of shellfish as well as the majestic line-caught sea bass or the wonderful skate with cabbage and sausage!
