Europe’s highest tides at Saint-Malo
Because of the combined effects of the sun and moon, these very high tides are a unique and impressive spectacle. Saint Malo Bay sits at the crossroads of the Channel and the Atlantic Ocean and is famous as one of the best places to view the vast scale of this phenomenon. You'll get a front-row seat here, to watch the spectacle of waves smashing themselves against the ramparts of the Corsair City, just a few yards away from the vast stretches of sand where, at low tide, you can enjoy gathering shellfish.

Storm over the "Needles" rocks at Port Coton
Experience an unforgettable moment on the Belle-Île when all the elements are let loose! When the Côte Sauvage (wild coast) is lashed by the ocean it creates a breathtaking spectacle, as the wind and waves attack the rocky pinnacles. In the middle of the boiling foam, the Needles rocks of Port Coton rise up majestically. They inspired Claude Monet to write: " (...) diabolical but superb, and I think I shall never see their like anywhere else".

When we make pancakes in Brittany...
In the land of pancakes, the feast of Candlemas on February 2nd is sacred! The circular and golden form of the pancake is supposed to represent the circle and golden light of the sun, reminding us that spring is on its way, after the darkness and cold of winter. Superstitious types say you should toss pancakes with your right hand while holding a coin (gold!) in your left hand, to ensure prosperity throughout the year. Get your "billig" or pancake griddle ready!

Reading stories by the fireside
Brittany is a land of stories and legends. When you open a book of fairy tales you let loose a host of goblins, elves, mermaids, fairies and giants. At an evening get-together or a "walk with stories" you'll learn to love the Breton storytelling skills that have been handed down through the generations. Brocéliande forest and the Monts d'Arrée are good places to discover these legends which are still firmly rooted in Breton culture, even today.
