Bréhat
A découvrir :
If Bréhat was to be a season, it would be spring: the mildness of the climate gave a chance to many species of exotic plants, brought back by the explorers, to adapt themselves very easily. Hydrangeas flourish in an explosion of tender colors, joined by bay-trees, mimosas and eucalyptus. The “Flower Island” deserves and honours its nickname, at least on the southern side of the island. In actual fact, Bréhat is an archipelago: in the south, pleasant little gardens and a pretty village built in stone offer a friendly welcome to newly arriving visitors. The ascent of a small mount (26 m height) bearing the Saint-Michel chapel, is awarded by the vision of a breathtaking panorama. As regards the tidal mill of Birlot, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the region. There is no place on this 1,5 km wide island where you'd forget its maritime character, and all around it appears the rosy belt of its satellites: Béniguet, Raguenez, Logodec, Lavrec,...Only a few minutes by boat separate the archipelago from the point of Arcouest and the mainland. Still, the change of scene is radical. The fact that there are no cars on the island is probably one of the reasons: the only motorized vehicles that the few cows of the island follow with a watchful eye are tractors. The cows don't seem to mind their original troughs, made of ancient boat tenders, either. Bréhat compares to no other, and that's not the least of its charms. ![]() Bréhat - F Le Divenah
