An explosion of colors in the middle of a skillfully organized floral chaos, or straight drawn paths, elegantly lined with rosebushes in the heart of concentric flowerbeds?  One favors surprise and discovery, the artist's glance for the best view point, when the other stands for symmetry, order, and  man's power over nature. You can't figure out  which one would suit you best? Come and visit the parks and gardens of our region to make up your own mind. Either botanical, aesthetical, historical, landscaped or kitchen gardens, the western part of France harbours every style of garden. Exotic plants, brought to France in the trunks of explorers over the years, reaped much benefit from the mild breton climate. They boldly bloom in this soil where Italian, Japoneese and oriental influences blend in perfect harmony. Mimosa, cactus and  oleander, most mediteranean species, come out  with sparkling bright colors. Wherever tropical plants and palmtrees spread out in gardens overhanging the cliffs, you get the startling impression to come across an oasis.
Selected for their beauty, their facilities and their opening to visitors, 36 parks and gardens  warmly welcome the visitors, out of which 13 have received the label “remarkable garden” by the Ministry for the Arts and Communication. Wandering about in these colorful, scented beauty spots will inevitably lead you to dreaming and meditation. Parks and gardens are no longer confined to the sole ornamental role and the highlighting of monuments or buildings. Today, they are estimated  at their true value and considered to be a genuine, fragile and living heritage.
