HEADING FOR THE ISLANDS
The lives of those who live all year round on the islands in the Channel and Atlantic Ocean are attuned to the rhythm of the sea. Each island has its own unique landscape and preserved natural heritage; each has its own character, with no two being alike. What they do have in common, though, is the fragility of that natural environment. Exposed to the eroding effects of sea and wind, the wonderful coastline of these islands inevitably suffers further each summer from the influx of visitors. Those who are keen should try to visit them outside the months of July and August and explore them unhindered to appreciate their beauty to the full.
