Entre Terre & Mer – Baie de Morlaix: July 2013
A celebration of sailors and the sea in the Bay of Morlaix
In 2011 the farmers and sailors of Morlaix joined forces to create an important biennale event. For a weekend in late July, land and sea become one as they reveal all the riches of the Trégor and Léon area.
The very first edition of the Entre Terre et Mer festival took place in 2011 and was a resounding success, attracting tens of thousands of visitors. Like a bridge between two riverbanks, this important festival gives seamen and farmers, from worlds that are so near and yet so far apart, a chance to meet. In Morlaix of course, but also in Carantec, Roscoff and Saint-Pol-de-Léon, numerous events give visitors an opportunity to discover the lives of the men of land and sea: seaweed harvesters from Callot island, animal breeders, weavers from the Route du Lin…The high point of the festivities and the symbol of this communion of land and sea simply has to be the regatta, when around 300 traditional sailing ships bob in the bay around the Château du Taureau, before making their way back up river to Morlaix. This festival really is the salt of the earth!
