Estuaire – Nantes and Saint-Nazaire: 15 June-19 August 2012
Contemporary art on the waterfront
A veritable artistic voyage, Estuaire celebrates its third and final edition in 2012. Fortunately, however, most of the works exhibited on the banks of the river Loire between Nantes and Saint-Nazaire will be here to stay.
Climb aboard for the most extraordinary adventure! Estuaire is an open-air exhibition with works installed in some of the most unusual locations along the length of the river Loire between Nantes and Saint Nazaire. Following the 2007 and 2009 editions, the third and final festival will take place in 2012. However, some of the works created specifically for the occasion will be installed permanently on the riverside to be enjoyed by all. They will join fifteen or so pieces from previous exhibitions which are already on permanent display in some atypical sites in the estuary. A 7 metre tall pendulum swinging from a disused concrete production plant. A nymph breaking through the waters of a canal. A garden created on the rooftop of a former submarine base. A boat that bends…All the sites are permanently open to visitors without charge, and, throughout the 2012 event, boat trips will be organised from Nantes to Saint Nazaire, giving visitors the chance to view the exhibition from the water.
