Equibreizh is a unique horse riding route that offers 2,600 km of bridleways taking in granite coasts, mysterious forests, heather and gorse moors, sunken lanes and fine sandy beaches. It’s a real delight!
Equibreizh: the GR® 34 for horses
Equibreizh is the horse riding equivalent of the GR® routes for hikers. More than 2,600 km of waymarked trails invite you to mount your steed and discover the natural and historic heritage Brittany has to offer. Designed to allow you to make a complete tour of Brittany, Equibreizh offers two diagonal routes through Brittany that allow riders to follow various circuits: one runs from east to west, from Paimpont to the Montagnes Noirs mountains; the other runs from north to south, connecting Saint-Brieuc with Josselin. You will set off on a journey of discovery through Brittany at its most authentic, and the route will take you past all the major monuments, ‘cités de caractère’ (towns of character), and contrasting landscapes of inland and coastal Brittany.
Go for an hour, a day, a weekend or a week!
Equibreizh won’t take you anywhere you don’t want to go: you can plan your route however you like on bridleways suitable for all gaits, from trot to gallop. A simple, consistent, waymarking system means you’ll be safe and won’t lose your way. Each circuit has its own identification and horse-friendly accommodation can be found every 25 to 30 km. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned rider, alone or in a group, the area’s riding centres offer accompanied horse riding excursions throughout the year, as well as organising your holiday on horseback.
Experience the joys of a gallop along the beach
Take advantage of Equibreizh’s coastal routes! They can be found in Ille-et-Vilaine and Côtes d’Armor - on the vast beaches of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, for example - and in Finistère. Some of these rides are only possible at low tide, so don’t forget your tide table. Go for a gallop on these beautiful beaches, breathe the sea air and enjoy the powerful sense of freedom! Please remember to respect other people using the beach.
