Visit the Château du Rocher-Portail between Rennes and Mont-Saint-Michel to take a journey back in time through its furnished living rooms and listed gardens, with period costumes, a secret passage and a treasure hunt…
Closed to visitors for many years, the Château du Rocher-Portail was relaunched as a tourist attraction in June 2017. With a lakeside position and a vast forested estate, this stone and granite château is a remarkable and intimate relic of the golden age of the nobility in the Breton countryside. There are 12 rooms furnished in different period styles, a Renaissance gallery, a chapel, stables and more. A listed historic building, this French-style Downton Abbey comes complete with servants’ rooms, 19th-century family photographs, a tea room and a beautiful kitchen garden. During guided tours, children can dress up in costumes and take part in a treasure hunt. Will you solve the mystery of the secret passage?
