The Maison de l'épagneul breton (Brittany spaniel cantre)
Callac is the capital of Brittany spaniels, also known in English simply as Brittanys. The village, where there are a large number of breeders, has been involved with this particular dog for over a hundred years. Originally from the nearby Argoat region, this faithful animal is a cross between a Scottish setter and a local breed, known locally as the 'coalman's dog'. The museum has put together a poignant tribute to the breed with an interactive, instructive set of videos, photographs, copies of paintings by Riab, sculptures by a real fan of the breed, Richard Fath. Then there is a 3D simulation of the breed's particular gait when running, and even a console where you can compare man's sense of smell with a dog's. Go with all the family - with or without the dog!
