Cycling and mountain biking
With its mountain biking trails, specially-designed voies vertes or greenways, and longer distance Véloroutes, Brittany is a first class cycling destination. Across forests and moors, along towpaths, up hill and down dale, it’s a great way to fill your lungs with fresh air!
Véloroutes and voies vertes
Eight itineraries following the voies vertes, or greenways, are now ready for nature loving holidaymakers. Half of the total 2,000 km covered by these itineraries are already fit for use, including towpaths, disused railway lines and country lanes, so you can travel the length and breadth of Brittany’s great outdoors!
Ideal for a day out with the family, you’ll find cycle routes in all the different areas of Brittany. The circular routes are not too long, have low gradients and are well marked, so you can discover local heritage with complete peace of mind, on quiet country roads with very little traffic.
Similar to ski resorts, mountain-biking centres (espaces VTT) are officially approved sites offering marked trail of different levels, to suit every type of cyclist, whether you’re a beginner, experienced rider, with the family or going solo… Spread throughout the region’s four departments, they offer a variety of facilities such as bike washing areas, bike hire and repair, organised treks, qualified instructors, accommodation and catering facilities.
