7 ideas to make you smile in 2021

Your smile has been masked, confined and ultra-discreet. But here in Brittany, where happiness is nurtured, it can become bright again! Escapades in nature, great initiatives, cultural events: here are 7 good ideas to combat glumness. This year, set your course to Brittany.

Race away on your bike!

The essential accessory for fine days is the bike. Firstly because from 26 to 29 June, four steps of the Tour de France are taking place here, promising a popular and joyful celebration. Secondly because there are two cycle routes to explore: The Vélodyssée®, the longest cycle route in France that runs alongside the canals in inland Brittany, and the Vélomaritime®, by the sea, fully inaugurated this year. Could this be your summer odyssey?

Set off on a photographic trip

This year, why not adopt contemporary photography as a theme? Seven enthusiastic organisations have prepared a little programme to help you discover the treasures of the region. From 1 April to 30 September, it’s your turn: from Daoulas to Rennes, from Lannion to Lorient, explore the territory from a different point of view! Among exhibitions, projects, collections and festivals, there are 30 proposals to discover. Come back in March to find out more.

Taste Pénestin mussels

Pénestin mussels spend their life attached to a pole, called a bouchot. They have just joined the French intangible cultural heritage list. Meaty, full of magnesium and iron, enjoy them on fine days with a little glass of wine on Tréhiguier port, facing the sea. A pure summer delight!

If you intend to walk on one of the most beautiful GR® routes in France, then you’ve made a good decision! But have you thought about shaking things up a bit? For example, you could combine hiking with kayaking or a catamaran outing to a little island. How about a refreshing swim or a welcome short-cut? The beauties of the GR®34 unfold on both sea and the land. If you have a thirst for adventure, what are you waiting for?

New relaxing addresses to try

For 2021 more than ever, your mantra is to make time for yourself. Treat yourself to a weekend – long or short – in Brittany and try out the latest novelties, such as Solenn’s “crow’s nest” in the natural environment in Erquy. Or opt for cocooning mode in a charming apartment in the medieval city of Dinan. Steeped in history, the Perlépampille manor house accommodates a decoration boutique and a tea room. Or “Au 46” in Bénodet offers a relaxing seaside break. We love these 3 relaxing breaks, to reserve without moderation!

On foot, in a kayak along the GR®34… a hint of adventure: you’ve got it, your nature cocktail!

Festival fun

We couldn’t enjoy them last year, but now it’s time to look forward! Let’s get ready to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, from 6 to 15 August! It may be getting on in years, but its soul is still young. Teams and artists are getting ready… In Lorient, like everywhere in Brittany, festivals are working hard to ensure that 2021 is the year of reunions, in compliance with the health context. We believe it!

Surpass yourself in nature

Did you think it was a mountain activity? At the first stirrings of spring, trail runners dust off their trainers all over Brittany! 30 routes were created in inland Brittany in 2020. Today, 30 new routes are being unveiled on the Pink Granite Coast and Morlaix Bay. The circuits are in natural settings, covering a variety of Breton landscapes in which to challenge yourself without having to worry about social distancing or your carbon footprint. Happiness, in short!
