Cidrerie Manoir du Kinkiz
From a pretty manor house overlooking the Quimper countryside, the Kinkiz cider house reveals, in their guided tours, the manufacturing secrets of Brittany’s cider followed by a tasting session.Around the Kinkiz manor house, the Seznec family cultivates, the natural way, a 30-hectare orchard whose fruits are used to produce cider, pommeau de Bretagne (a mixture of 2/3 apple juice and 1/3 of Calvados), eaux-de-vie (brandy) and other specialities such as juice, vinegar and chouchen (a fermented beverage of honey and fruits). Starting in the orchard, the guided tours, led by Maugane, do not require prior booking and are free for up to ten people. Guests are then taken to cider wineries where they discover how the various stages of beverage production follow local traditional methods. In the shadows of the cider wineries and surrounded by a fragrant aroma of apples and wood from the barrels, a small exhibition of ancient tools testifies of the evolution of the craft. The tour ends with a taste of authentic Brittany nectars, to drink in moderation, of course.
