  • Erquy, a famous shell fishing port on the Penthièvre coast, is a definite must for anyone who loves good seafood. After visiting the lively fish-auction, take a table at this crêperie, which has been run for eight years by Isabelle and her husband: you're guaranteed delicious food and an amazing view of the open sea.

The decor of the room – very sober, with its grey walls and white-panelled bar – is a perfect setting for the paintings produced by Isabelle on the rare occasions that she has spare time: these maritime landscapes, severe and colourful at the same time, show just how attached this native of Erquy is to her roots. The paintings echo the view from the large, glass-covered, heated terrace that is open in summer. “I like to see colours in cooking as well,” she explains. “That’s why all the ingredients are laid on top of the 'galette' (buckwheat pancake) instead of being hidden inside.” A good example is her delicious ‘Rhéginienne’ with its five rounds of super-fresh scallops that have been pan-fried in salted butter, accompanied by a fondue of leeks flavoured with chorizo and served in a glass with a Noilly Prat sauce. And you must try her authentic galettes with buttermilk.
