  • To the north of Saint-Nazaire, in the Brière Regional Natural Park, you can discover a variety of birds and flowers living in the marshland and 'bocages', which are a patchwork of fields with high hedges, typical of the region. This stunning area also has a unique cultural heritage and you can even do a spot of shopping.

Between the Vilaine and the Loire estuaries, the Brière Regional Natural Park covers an area of more than 54,000 hectares of salt marshes, canals and marshlands scattered with islands. If you want to explore this region, you can hire bikes, canoes or horses. Or why not try a horse-driven carriage or a traditional punt? Most of the hikes and guided tours depart from the village of Kerhinet with its restored thatched cottages. You can also do a spot of shopping for local produce or crafts: sculptures made from fossilised wood, saucisson made from salt-marsh cattle or salt from the Mès salt flats. How's that for unusual souvenirs?
