  • In Brittany, every August, comes the time to choose the Queens of the coast. The Fêtes d'Arvor is an important date on the traditional Breton culture calendar and an opportunity to discover Vannes in all its splendour.

Arvor means coast in Breton and this event, which has been going strong since 1928, celebrates its coastal communities: more than 83 towns and villages are eligible to participate. And each proposes its candidate for the Queen of Arvor title. The Fêtes d'Arvor is a grand display of local tradition with Celtic music processions and rounds of folk dancing a go-go. Above all, it's a joyful, fun event that brings people together before a backdrop of Brittany's cultural heritage: the regional pride that has been handed down from one generation to the next. Aged from 16 to 25, in a way the Queens are the promise that these traditions will continue to live on. Come and experience today’s Fêtes d’Arvor in full swing in Vannes' streets and squares and around the town walls.
