The best in jazz music comes to the heart of the Brittany peninsula. Moors and broom may replace the bayou here, but the sax and the washboard still have pride of place over the bagpipes at this festival. This friendly jazz festival sets up shop in the heart of the village of Gomené at a range of venues from a pub to a gîte and a marquee. The festival has succeeded in creating a down to earth event, whether it’s bebop, swing, modal jazz or New Orleans style on the menu. Year after year, the line-up features the most passionate regional jazz talents so that Gomené can groove to the latest blue note creations at this movingly modest festival. With courses run by professional musicians, jazz lovers can devote their time to improving their jazz vocals or musical ensemble work. To complement the experimental music, paintings by contemporary artist, Claude Rivière will be on show, bringing a burst of colour to the event.
