  • Here’s an unpretentious little seafront restaurant, with some of grandma’s tried and tested recipes. You couldn't wish for more, and you'll find it at La Bonne Etoile!

“The decorative style features lots of little original touches and makes a point of highlighting Breton culture, with bits of traditional furniture that have been repainted, colourful clogs etc.,” explains Katell Carpentier, who owns La Bonne Etoile jointly with her husband Jérôme. Their restaurant is located in the centre of Roscoff with views over the port. No fussy food here, we get an ‘andouille’ tart with pink onions from… Roscoff! A fish soup made with the local catch, cider-cooked chicken with potatoes and thick bacon strips or, why not, the home-smoked fish or Breton hotpot? The 'Assiette de Petits Bateaux' menu changes every week and for dessert, there are some classic Breton family favourites: shortbread biscuits, Breton apple far cake, caramel rice pudding with homemade salted butter … “Or try our Breton tiramisu, apples cooked in ‘chouchen’ (mead), Breton shortbread with caramel!”
