The best of regional produce in a listed village.
at Le Guerno
This is the perfect gourmet stop if you’re on your way to visit the Château de Branféré wildlife park. Right in the centre of Le Guerno, a lovely Morbihan village of character, Arnaud Le Dévéhat lovingly produces galettes (buckwheat pancakes) and crêpes that are as beautiful as they are tasty! In Le Guerno, time seems to have stood still. When you open the door of La gargouille, a building with exposed stone walls that is listed as an historic monument – as is the superb Church of Sainte-Anne in the same street – you will discover an imposing fireplace, old tools and costumes on the walls and Brigitte, always ready to help with an ever-present smile. Here, the batter for the galettes is made with a 100% Tradition Bretagne buckwheat IGP flour (Protected Place of Origin), whole organic milk straight from the farm and free-range eggs. “I can only work with fine, local produce”, explains Arnaud. Amongst these is the rare and unusual langouille, pork tongue prepared as if it were an andouille (chitterling sausage). The pancakes are named after Breton headdresses. For example, there’s the Kernapa : half a baked apple, homemade salted caramel sauce, vanilla ice-cream and Chantilly cream.
