The Alligators canoe-kayak club at Landerneau is on the banks of the Elorn river close to Brest. All kayakers are welcome to paddle here throughout the year or in the summer season. Permanent club associate Jean-Yves Colin says that the club’s aim is to: “show you how much fun it can be on the water, in the sea or on the river.”The Landerneau centre is run by ‘Maison pour Tous’, a non-profit organisation focussing mainly on activities for children. Activities are available all-year-round for visitors aged from 8 years. From September to March, training takes place mostly on the river, while at other times the club mostly paddles in sea-water. This is due to water levels and to keep the training varied. Jean-Yves Colin says: "Our location close to Brest harbour and the North Finistère coast means we can be flexible about our sea kayaking choices.” In July and August, the club is open to the general public and runs a ‘Point Passion Plage’ (Beach Centre) located at Yelen cove in Brest harbour. Courses and rentals are available for sea kayaks, dinghies and windsurfers. In summer, the club runs beginners and improvers courses for 6-12 year olds, and organises the "Randonnée Kayak Elorn" (Elorn Kayak Trip), a great way for everyone to learn about kayaking in a fun, friendly atmosphere.
