In the countryside near Quimper, the Vergers de Kermao do wonders with apples on their traditional family cider farm, with the Cornouaille Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) label.
For 25 years, the Saliou family's cider farm has pressed the fruits of its own orchards, spread across 18 hectares around the farm. Between May and September, the bosses act as your guides at 3pm every day for a tour lasting 30-40 minutes. You start under the apple trees, then you learn about the processing equipment before moving on to the fermenting room and finishing in the shop, where there are tastings for everyone! The range of products has grown over the years. The Vergers de Kermao press dry and semi-sweet Cornouaille PDO cider. The establishment also produces apple juice, lambig (an artisan brandy specific to this region), pommeau (an apple-based apéritif), brandy, vinegar, and cider jelly. Taste a fine selection of Brittany's gourmet specialities in a friendly setting.
