  • Just a stone's throw from Saint-Malo, rich ship-builders once settled here in fine mansion houses. Built in the 18th century, these 'malouinières' still fascinate visitors today with their architecture and interiors. Founded by the wealthy Eons family, the Villa Bague opens its doors to a unique part of history.

Nestled in the Pays d'Aleth area, the Villa Bague owes all its lustre to the flourishing maritime adventures of Saint-Malo. When you add the buccaneers' bounty to profits from the India Trading Company you've got enough to build a beautiful mansion with a very aristocratic feel. The walls of the Villa's grounds shelter a site that has been awarded Brittany's 'Remarkable Gardens' label. French and English-style gardens lead you to the flight of steps at the entrance to the Villa. The 1 and a half hour guided tour continues with the gold-leaf and wooden panelling of the interior, model boats, and furniture brought from distant trading posts. The dining room bears witness to the popularity of fine dining, while in the dovecote, buccaneers' weapons tell the story of their exciting adventures. Each room is an invitation to just step back in time!
