Le Moulin du Prat
  • On the banks of the River Rance, the Prat tidal mill bears witness to the estuary's maritime and agricultural heritage. A good excuse for a family walk in the fresh air!

Built around the 15th century, the Moulin de Prat is one of the region's oldest tidal mills. Up until the French Revolution, people used to come here to mill their grain. During the 19th century, its two waterwheels used to turn three pairs of millstones. Left abandoned from 1920, the mill underwent a full restoration 10 years ago. With access along a pleasant track through the shrubbery (600 m), the Moulin de Prat now houses a small exhibition, a film show and a number of superb heritage items, showcasing the mill's former activities and its original method of operation using tidal power. Enthusiastic volunteers organise tours every day during summer.
