Néo - Japonismes

Exhibition, Painting, Sculpture, Cultural in Brest
  • Looking for something different? This autumn, head for Brest and enjoy a Franco-Japanese cocktail at Le Comoedia gallery. Colour, humour, fantasy and the fundamentals of Japanese culture revisited by 13 inspired, contemporary artists.

  • Sculptures, tattoos, illustrations, street art, graffiti, drawings... no fewer than 150 works by a new generation of creators fed on manga and video games to devour with your eyes! On the French side, Lalasaïdko's kitsch cats and street artist Pakone's sakura (cherry trees) will remind you of the world of kawaii and its round, cute characters. On the French side, Lalasaïdko's kitsch cats and street artist Pakone's sakura (cherry trees) will remind you of the world of kawaii and its round, cute characters. Comic book characters are set against the backdrop of the famous Ukiyo-e, images of a floating world: make way for the facetious, poetic spirit of Ads Libitum. On the Japanese side, Excalibur, a collective of artists adept at pixel art, takes us by surprise. The flashy colours and repetitive motifs of Fantasista Utamaro and Nigamushi are in the vein of pop art. Not forgetting the protective, benevolent monsters by Masayoshi Hanawa. A nod to the Heta-Huma movement, which means "ugly but beautiful". What a programme!
