Here's a wonderful, magical place to have encounters of a very special kind. A botanical garden little changed down the centuries, with centuries-old oaks, a beautiful lake and no less than 14 springs, has now become a little piece of paradise, where all sorts of animals roam freely without fences, hedges or other constraints - wild deer, lemurs, wallabies, donkeys, ponies and pigs. You can wander around just as freely as the animals and even offer them some of the bread you can get at the entrance. The owner, Karl Regardin, has always favoured giving animals their freedom whilst allowing direct contact with humans. "Here", he says with pride, "you are guests in their home".
