Stepping aboard the Louisette means setting out on a trip through the history of fishing and traditional sailing. As a true devotee of sailing, the skipper (Hugues or Jacky) doesn't hesitate to hoist the sails straight away in Audiere harbour. Even the topmost staysail is often hoisted. This comfortable cutter, dating from 1926, with its somewhat bulbous hull, handles easily. With a bit of guidance from the crew, two children can hoist the sail. Sitting comfortably in the water, the boat revisits its former vocation: fishing. As well as being apprentice sailors, we're now dragnet or lobster and crab fishermen. As we approach the waters off the Isle of Sein, the Louisette attracts plenty of attention among today's line fishermen. What was our best catch of the day? Excitement! Our maritime heritage really has come back to life with this exciting trip and the real scents of the sea.
