Highlights

  • Birds, so many of them! And seals! And maybe even dolphins!
  • The opportunity to take to the seas on an amazing traditional sailboat.
  • A picnic in a marine kingdom: Île aux Moines

Description

Explore the Pink Granite Coast from a whole new angle – the sea! Anchors aweigh for a laid-back day aboard an amazing traditional sailboat, setting off from Perros-Guirec. After an introduction to jigger sails and a light snack, time to breathe in the fresh sea air and keep your eyes peeled… The Sept-Îles nature reserve is home to Northern gannets, puffins, seals and even dolphins. Rouzic, Malban, Bono (and we don’t mean the singer from U2), île Plate, les Costans, les Cerfs: Laurence, one of your skippers, has a fascinating array of anecdotes about these seven islands. An adventure awash with magical spots, including a lunch stop on Île aux Moines (not the one in Morbihan, though). A natural extravaganza!

The Northern lights or Northern gannets ?

Gannets of course! The Sept-Îles Nature Reserve is a local treasure by providing an invaluable breeding ground to these seabirds returning from migration… These islands, lying off the mainland, truly are the setting for a natural show as magical as the Northern lights!

What’s your best memory aboard the Sant C’hireg ?

As Manu, captain of the Sant C’hireg, used to say: “Steering is child’s play”. The awestruck look of a child at the helm of a traditional 30-tonne sailboat (and the wonder on the grown-ups’ faces too!).

On the boat, should we sit quietly? Or roll our sleeves up and help ?

This is a sailboat where there’s a role for everyone: operating the sails or the tiller, map-reading, looking out to sea, taking photos, keeping an eye out for wildlife… We can all do our bit to ensure a successful trip!
