Trévarez is famous for its gardens, but it also has a château that is well worth a visit. Its history bears the stamp of one man, a certain James de Kerjégu.
The château of Trévarez, which lies at the heart of 85 hectares of grounds and has been awarded France's '20th Century Heritage' label , has enjoyed this position overlooking the valley of the river Aulne for over a century. It's a testament to the dream of one man, the politician James de Kerjégu. In 1893 he began the construction of a grand property that was to incorporate all the latest exciting trends of the Belle Epoque. Each year, Trévarez invites a contemporary artist to come and deliver his own take on the place, in a work of art created especially for the Trévarez estate, accompanied by a temporary exhibition in the old stable block. In winter, the stables are the venue for 'Christmas at Trévarez', with lots to see and do on the theme of Christmas tales and suitable for all ages.
