  • You can't miss it: in Concarneau, the Courtin canning factory is proudly anchored at the Moros dock. Founded in 1893, it's the oldest in the town. Its speciality? Making your mouth water during a tasty visit to its 100% traditional workshop.

    The star recipe of the Courtin family's canning factory is a 'confit de Saint-Jacques', a secret mix of scallops and fresh butter. If you visit the workshop on the day that this delicious dish is simmering away, you might be lucky enough to see Joëlle at work. But on any day of the week you'll be able to see the machinery at work, for example the can sealing machines that date back to the 1900s or 1950s. Here, all the products are processed using traditional methods. The workers are often busy unloading fish arriving at this rather historic workshop, but they are always ready to answer questions. Apart from the size of the cauldrons it's almost a home from home. Once you've seen everything and got the answers to all your questions, the free visit is finished off with a tasting of fish soup and rillettes, a type of fish pâté.
