Although it sounds like a French movie star, Cicé Blossac is quite American in style. The greens and tees are built upon sand, comply with USGA standards, are very fast draining and therefore playable throughout the year.
Putting on the greens, which are enormous and of an exceptionally high standard, is a real treat. Designed by M. Quenouillem and opened in 1992, Cicé Blossac (or Cicero Blosssac to give it its full name) has hosted a number of important championships. The tree-lined fairways are generous and there aren’t too many bunkers to worry about. Of more concern are the out of bounds’ posts, of which there are quite a few. And water poses a threat on no fewer than seven holes. Five miles south-west of Rennes, this par 72, 6127-yard course is eminently walkable. -
