Take the little Vagabond train around Saint-Malo and learn about the heritage and history of this Breton pirate city as you listen to the stories!

If you want to visit Saint-Malo without walking too far, then tourist train the Vagabond is for you. The circuit takes 30 minutes, and a full commentary is provided telling you all about the French East India Company and famous corsairs, pirates and explorers of yesteryear! Board the train opposite the Porte Saint-Vincent gate, right by the tourist office at the foot of the castle and its ramparts. You’ll hear all about the magnificent Saint-Malo bay with its great tides (the biggest in Europe), the history of Saint-Vincent cathedral (which contains the cenotaph of Jacques Cartier), the Porte Saint-Pierre (the old kennels that once housed the so-called watchdogs) and learn about how the city was rebuilt after the second world war. You’ll understand why the inhabitants of Saint-Malo – ‘Malouins’ – insist they are not French – not Breton – but Malouin!
