  • A stunning site comprising three lighthouses at Penmarc’h, including the Eckmühl lighthouse and the old lighthouse, just waiting to be explored!

Enjoy the stunning panoramic views from the 60 metre high Eckmühl lighthouse, 307 steps up! The lighthouse is one of the most popular monuments in Finistère and one of the most powerful lighthouses in France. Inaugurated in 1897, its construction was funded by the family of the Prince of Eckmühl. The lighthouse walls are made entirely of local Kersanton granite and the internal staircase is lined with opaline glass tiles. Don’t miss the 15th century chapel at the foot of the lighthouse, or the exhibition on the ground floor of the old lighthouse that tells the story of lighthouses in Finistère and Penmarc'h, with historic documents and audiovisual displays. If you have time after all that, have a look at the Papa Poydenot, the last lifeboat with oars that is a monument to maritime heritage in its own right!
