Description
On the Pink Granite Coast, lovers of apple juice and cider can go behind the scenes at the Kernivinen orchard
François Le Jaouen took over his parents’ orchard in 2011, at the age of 32, without having really planned to do so. Six generations had gone before him on these lands in Perros. Today, he produces artisanal cider and apple juice, as well as wheat and barley flour for the neighbouring brewery, and rapeseed oil. All year round, he personally shows visitors around the Kernivinen orchards and humbly shares the techniques of his trade: apples picked by hand, left to ripen in crates, natural clarification, slow fermentation for the cider, and gentle pasteurisation for the juice. A discreet craft, passed down with care, to be discovered and savoured in moderation.
