Maison des Mégalithes, Le Ménec, 56340 Carnac
With its 3,000 stones, erected 6,500 years ago, it is one of the largest families of menhirs in Europe. Discover it with your own for an unforgettable game of historical hide-and-seek.
At Carnac, menhirs, dolmens and covered walkways are spread over more than four kilometres. The largest menhir is 4 metres high. In high season, for reasons of preservation and conservation, the alignments are accessible via a guided tour, and are freely accessible in winter. These alignments were built in the Neolithic period by sedentary communities between the 5th and 2nd millennia B.C. These tribes lived in large wooden and clay houses, raising livestock and farming. Before entering the heart of the Alignments, discover the Maison des Mégalithes, an information and interpretation centre. Exhibitions, videos, interactive media... a wealth of resources to help you unravel the mysteries of this site dating back thousands of years before our era.
