North Finistère is an extremely favourable soil for market gardening. In Plouénan and Roscoff, Gilles Le Bihan doesn't just grow potatoes and artichokes, he even goes so far as to grow citrus fruit!
Gilles Le Bihan is not exactly a market gardener like the others... Since 2001, in Plouénan, he has been growing "classic" vegetables as well as more unusual ones. Always on the lookout for something new, he seeks to diversify with atypical products, such as rare varieties of tomato, prickly cucumbers, Japanese or Thai aubergines, peppers of all kinds, turmeric, ginger, avocados and so on. Since 2020, in an unheated greenhouse in Roscoff, he has been exploring another world with great passion: yes, it is possible to grow citrus fruit in Brittany! And he's proving it, organically too, with a dozen varieties of lemon, yuzu, cumbava, caviar lemon, citron and even bergamot lemon... The man's got more surprises in store! If you'd like to find out more and taste more, especially his homemade preparations in jars, head for these two shops in Plouénan and Roscoff!
