In Saint-Brieuc bay, the aptly-named artisan biscuit manufacturers, Brieuc, make Breton specialities with lovely fruit, caramel and salted caramel flavours.

A attractive shop marks the entrance to the big Brieuc factory at Yffiniac, located by the dual carriageway between Lamballe and Saint-Brieuc. It's a biscuit factory, caramel factory and jam factory all rolled into one. All its products are manufactured here in true Breton tradition. That's around 60 separate recipes, each with a valuable place in the local gastronomy and with no preservatives, artificial colouring, additives or gelling agents - made just with an artisan's touch and the love of good things! You'll find the famous salt butter caramel in all its different forms - as a sauce, sweets, a spread, etc. You can stock up on yummy 'sablé' shortbread biscuits, cookies, palet biscuits, 'far' (a kind of flan) with plums, and of course 'kouign amann' (similar to lardy cake). Not forgetting the jams, which are the cherry on the cake!
