In the Rance valley, visit the Maison des Faluns and find traces of what was once a hot sea - the 'Mer des Faluns'.
Fifteen million years ago, part of Brittany lay beneath the 'Mer des Faluns' sea. As the sea gradually dried up, it left fossilised flora and fauna in a sedimentary rock known as Falun stone. The 'Maison des Faluns' takes you on a sea odyssey through seven rooms of interactive displays. It's both fun and educational, and will help visitors of all ages to gain a better understanding of this unique site's geological, architectural and environmental heritage, and why it is so important to preserve it. Temporary exhibitions and numerous Nature and Heritage events connected with the natural environment of the Faluns take place throughout the year.
