In Trégarvan, this former school is now a museum depicting Breton schools of the early 20th century, with a reconstructed schoolroom, teacher’s kitchen and a craft exhibition. You will learn everything about life in a primary school, country life in Brittany, or the rivalry between state schools and those run by the various confessional groups. It’s all very real, with school books, desks, inkwells, the blackboard, globes, counting frames, and much more. A rich collection of what French schools, from Victorian times (in France, the Third Republic) to the 1970s. There are also workshops such as writing with pens and ink, games of the period, etc. And how about testing your French? Each month they organise a mock school certificate test: writing, spelling, arithmetic, science, history and geography. Not as easy as you might think!
