From the middle of the 19th century, Le Faouët inspired many artists. The museum's collection of almost 450 works reflects the diversity of views on everyday life at the time. Each year, a temporary exhibition explores a different facet of daily life.
This charming museum, housed in a former Ursuline convent, showcases the artistic life of Le Faouët in the early 20th century. Many painters and photographers stayed here at the time, attracted by the picturesque setting of the little town, its inexpensive hotels and the opportunity to buy their equipment from the Le Leuxhe shop. Suppliers of fine art equipment, the Leuxhe family also had a long line of painters.
In 2025, the museum will be showcasing "Regards croisés de deux peintres paysagistes en Bretagne: Marguerite Raffray (1907-2004) et André Wilder (1871-1965)".
