In Rennes, solo workers in front of their computers, small groups of friends and regular brunch-goers have all made this daytime café with its coffee shop feel their favourite stop-off.
Experts will tell you that this is the place to try the best cookie in Rennes... And it's true that the "thing", made from buckwheat, wheat and chocolate, is quite delectable. Gang is subtitled "neighbourhood café" and is open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays, 9am to 7pm on Saturdays and 9.30am to 7pm on Sundays. The shop offers both savoury and sweet dishes, as well as takeaway pastries, excellent speciality coffees, teas and freshly squeezed fruit juices. Breakfast, for example, rhymes with granola and seasonal fruit or coconut milk porridge; lunch with grilled cheese or chicken chorba; brunch with muffins, beetroot hummus, spinach and smoked trout or brioche perdu and vanilla crème brûlée... To make matters worse, the story unfolds against a pleasant backdrop of wood and old stone, or seated on the small terrace on the pedestrianised pavement of the Parcheminerie.
