Allium, after the Latin name for wild garlic, is the wonderful Michelin-starred restaurant in Quimper, where Lionel Hénaff creates deceptively simple dishes.
Allium, "Cuisine Nature" (or "cuisine that's true to nature" in English): that's what it says on the outside of this restaurant in Quimper's business district - and the interior décor also matches the description. Allium, the new Michelin-starred restaurant run by Lionel and Frédérique Hénaff, is in total harmony with all the natural elements. The tables are made of wood, with no tablecloths; cypress bark is used in the décor and it all adds up to a dining room of simple elegance, bathed in light. Lionel Hénaff creates flower-strewn dishes whose delicate flavours and slight tang get it just right. Everything is cooked to perfection, like the wonderful langoustine, crispy at first bite and then deliciously melt-in-the-mouth. Then there's fish with seasonal vegetables, lightly seared octopus, scallops when they're in season, etc.
