Rendezvous in Saint-Malo on 1 November
Excitement is building in the yachting world! Who’s’ going to be lining up along the single starting line in November? On a boat at least 39 feet long (just under 12 metres), any sailor, amateur or professional, can take part. But watch out, it’s a dangerous adventure! The journey through the English Channel and Bay of Biscay, with strong winds and rough seas, is often decisive. It’s all a question of finding the right balance between speed and risk of breakage. And the Promised Land is over 6,500 km away, in the heat of the tropics! More than enough to fuel the victors’ legends: Mike Birch, who won by just 98 seconds after a race lasting 23 days; Florence Arthaud, “the little fiancée of the Atlantic”, the first woman to win the race; “The Little Prince” Laurent Bourgnon’s double win; and Franck Cammas’ feat at the helm of a boat over 30 metres long… Not forgetting those who lost their lives there: Alain Colas and Loïc Caradec. So if you want to support your today’s heroes, rendezvous in the Corsair City on 1 November!
But festivities begin on the quayside well before the great departure itself! From 20 October to 1 November, the Corsair City will be getting up to speed with the Departure Village! Thirteen days of events to get you up close to the boats, feeling the tension rise on the pontoons and enjoying the Breton and Guadeloupian atmosphere. A great maritime festival leading up to the great leap towards the Atlantic!
