Family farm fun

Put your boots on and open all your senses to nature

Shall we see the cows? And make butter, sow flowers, learn about the natural cycle of the garden, pick apples and collect the day’s eggs… That’s what a farm holiday is all about! To reconnect with your family and emotions, with the earth and its values, here are three ideas to nurture your happiness!

In the blink of an eye

1. Near Vannes, a joyful immersion in biodiversity

Les Jardins Coët-Kra (56)

Happiness can be found in the meadow and among the fruit trees at Jardins de Coët-Kra! In Plaudren, in the Vannes hinterland, this farm proposes pretty rooms and eco-friendly holiday homes including a tree house, ideal for families (up to 5 people). Here, children and adults are invited to take part in everyday tasks: collecting eggs, feeding the animals, collecting fruits and vegetables, etc. Children can look after Awen the horse as well as the goats, Roquette and Kev! Take advantage to learn about permaculture from your host, Jonathan, a follower of resilient farming. And above all, don’t miss out on tasting the farm’s products, especially the home-made honey.

2. Find happiness in the pens, in Pont-Aven

L’Aven Parc (29)

In Pont-Aven, you can meet the animals at Aven Parc. The pens on the educational farm are open so that you can get close to goats, sheep, pigs, Silkie chickens, rabbits, etc. Children and adults can even feed the baby lambs with bottles of milk. They’re simply adorable! Every day a bottle-feeding or other feeding-time activity enables visitors to discover this little world from a little closer. Aven Parc is also an aviary, new residents, a corn maze and chock-full of attractions with thrills tailored to all ages, including tubing, zorbing and trampolines…
All you need for a family day outdoors!

From April to end November

3. Big ears and small pleasures: donkey rides in Trégor

La Combe aux Ânes – Lanvellec (22)

It’s impossible to resist Martin’s charm! He is the mascot of La Combe aux Ânes and one of the eight donkeys that you can ride on at this little donkey farm in Lanvellec. Florence and Philippe, the owners, have marked out routes lasting from one hour to a whole day through the Trégor countryside. Help the little ones onto the backs of the donkeys and give the tether to the big ones, and explore the paths at the animal’s pace. They aren’t as stubborn as they say! The donkeys at La Combe aux Ânes share their lives with ponies, geese, ducks, Ushant sheep, young goats, etc. with which your children can play at being farmers. Here you can learn while having fun feeding the animals, giving them a drink, pushing the hay barrow, etc.!

Donkey ride, all year. Visit the educational farm, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays at 3pm all year and subject to booking

4. Values and games by the fireside

Breizhanne Farm – Plouray

Loving-kindness and simplicity: the watchwords at this eco-place 50 km north of Lorient, in the very heart of Brittany. Here, Pascal and Barbara have created a 15-hectare green paradise. There are two tents for summer nights, children’s nature workshops, wellness massage, songs round the campfire… And on the table, from June to September, produce from the garden and nearby farms. Hooves a-clatter, 3 mares are in attendance all year round, ready to take you on a calash ride to the beauty spots nearby – Sainte-Barbe du Faouët Chapel at the top of the list. Great!

5. Wooden cross, stone cross!

Croas Men Farm – Plouigneau

Reconnecting with the simple things in life? Easy as a stay with the Cotty family! 10 minutes from the sea and Morlaix, Croas Men Farm (its name is Breton for stone cross) awaits your coming. The caravans, cottages and the brand new yurt on the campsite give pride of place to wood. So much space! You feel like a king right away, immersed in tranquillity and greenery. The organic farm with its 30 breeds of animals is in open access as are the outdoor games – cabin in the woods, trampoline, swings, pedal tractors and duck fishing… All underpinned by great values. Activities to enjoy in the midst of your outings on the Pink Granite Coast and Monts d’Arrée.

Activities on the farm (egg harvesting, tractor rides, etc.) in July and August
