Description
Watch out for rough weather! The unmissable Douarnenez Maritime Festival is returning to the port of Rosmeur… and it only happens every two years! Save the date; the old sailing ships and the maritime world are getting ready to celebrate… in an 18th-century atmosphere, the age of the Enlightenment and privateering.
Wherever they come from, traditional sailing ships from all over the world gather and feel right at home on the tip of Finistère. It must be said that Douarnenez gives them a most warm welcome. The festival is an institution, having taken place every even-numbered year for over 30 years! Music echoes from the quays all around. Open, curious and diverse, it promises wonderful encounters. Simplicity and conviviality remain the watchwords of this grand gathering which, alongside the majestic parades on the water, invites you to demonstrations of nautical knots and film screenings on sailboats, whilst the younger ones practise climbing the rigging. Once again this year, the 18th century takes centre stage. With a major new addition: the presence of the galleon El Galeón, which has never before visited France… Mark your calendars, or you’ll have to wait two long years!
