Above Roche-Bernard, the Maison de l'abeille (Bee discovery centre) celebrates honey along with the knowledge and passion of a long line of bee-keepers.

Local boy Rémy Lucas has been keeping bees for 40 years. With the help of his son Léo, the bee-keeper maintains 800 hives within a 50 km radius of Roche-Bernard. The beeswax-scented family shop sells a wide range of products from the farm: honey from various flowers, pollen, royal jelly, propolis, complementary foodstuffs etc. Mother Carole and daughter Eline will be on hand to take your order. On the same floor you can see a short animated film on the life of insects along with display cases containing objects used in the industry. In the video room, a documentary film highlights the central role played by bees in supporting biodiversity. An observation window lets you watch bees hard at work inside a hive linked to the outside by two tunnels.
