Guided tours, dramatised tours, heritage walks, treasure hunts and workshops... The Maison du Patrimoine is bursting with ideas to tell everyone about Concarneau's riches. The Governor's Tower, a 15th-century fortification, houses free exhibitions. With its wide walls, small openings to the sea and spiral staircase, it has a fresh, mineral atmosphere! The view from the sentry walk is breathtaking. You can look out over the busy streets of the medieval island, the shipyards, the fishing port... As you follow the audio trails or the guides, you'll be carried away by the spirit of the place. For a long time, the rhythm of the town was set by the comings and goings of the boats and the cannery bell calling the women to work. Today, fishing remains at the heart of the town. The unique atmosphere of the fish auction is well worth a visit. If you're a keen photographer, you can opt for a visit to the Ville-Close at 9am, when the light is magical and there are fewer people around... You'll be sure to get some great shots!
