Between Nantes and Saint-Nazaire, board the Iroko and cruise to the ocean on France's longest river, dotted with XXL works of art.
A rickety ship, a sunken house, a hilltop villa... Could you be fooled? Not at all. That's the unusual sight offered by the Estuaire art trail, a permanent collection of works by major artists, on display all year round on the quays of Nantes, Saint-Nazaire and the banks of the river. And what better way to find them than by boat? Aboard the Iroko, a guide will take you behind the scenes of this strange exhibition that interacts with the landscape. He'll also tell you all about the flora and fauna and the history of the Loire, which is just as rich, and its industrial heritage, which is still very much alive. Allow 2? hours for the 60km outward journey. The return journey can be made by boat at the end of the day, or by reduced-rate TER train. In a shorter format (1h30), the loop cruise between Nantes and Couëron will give you a good overview of the subject.
