In the heart of Finistère, the Sérusier Museum immerses you in the world of an artist couple who were passionate about the landscapes of Châteauneuf-du-Faou and local life.
At the end of the 19th century, Châteauneuf du Faou captivated Paul Sérusier and his wife Marguerite with its bucolic tranquillity. The surrounding countryside, the local religious festivals, the hustle and bustle of the market, rural life… all inspired their paintings and drawings, which were avant-garde at the time. Now it’s your turn to discover these artists at the museum housed in 19th-century buildings opposite the church. The works showcase this talented duo and some of their friends, who were part of the Nabi movement. There is a strong focus on graphic art, which is highly prized today. The exploration continues beyond the museum walls, along a trail linking nine locations painted by the Sérusiers. Fans of detective games will prefer to conduct their own investigations around town, in search of a stolen painting. This unique outing can be extended with a stroll along the banks of the River Aulne or a visit to Trévarez Castle.
