Description
In Saint-Malo, the Sports Mer Santé association offers activities such as coastal walking and lifesaving to help people gain a better understanding of the ocean. Its guiding principles are safety and wellbeing.
Learning to enjoy the sea and its benefits in complete safety – that is the motto of the Sports Mer Santé association, based in Saint-Malo. Its mission? To enable people of all ages and backgrounds to get to know the ocean through a range of activities. Coastal walking, which involves walking in the water along the beach, is a perfect example of this. “It works all the muscle groups, joints and the heart,” explains Corentin Rousseau, a qualified sports instructor. “We organise sessions lasting around an hour all year round, with people of all ages. We also adapt the longe-côte sessions for people with disabilities.” It’s the perfect way to enjoy the views of Saint-Malo Bay and Saint-Lunaire! In both summer and winter, the association also introduces younger children (aged 6 and over) to water rescue sports (swimming with fins, paddleboarding, towing, etc.) through fun activities on Rochebonne beach. Swimming lessons in the sea and courses to overcome a fear of water are available as one-to-one sessions or in small groups of three, from spring through to autumn. The association has recently expanded its range of activities to include aquagym sessions in the sea. Give it a go – your body will thank you for it!
