Description
For the past two years, Charles Goapper and Eléna Prekrasna have been delighting the people of Saint-Malo and tourists visiting the city centre who are looking for inspired cuisine.
With its Klein blue façade, wooden tables packed shoulder to shoulder and corrugated metal walls, Charles Goapper and Eléna Prekrasna opened a place in 2022 that reflects who they are: simple and very good. ‘Doma’, which means ‘at home’ in Slavic, refers to Eléna’s Ukrainian roots. But the sense of a change of scenery on the plate goes far beyond that. Charles Goapper, originally from Saint-Malo, likes to say that he practises ‘local cuisine with flavours from elsewhere’. Indeed, the chef isn’t averse to taking detours to Africa with his mafé, or to Asia with his marinated beef in coconut sauce served with coleslaw. For dessert, don’t miss the large chocolate choux pastry with its macadamia praline. The wine list gives pride of place to small producers carefully selected by the couple. A place well worth discovering!
